OUR STORY

Mike and Mandy Dwyer were already travel industry veterans when they opened Main Beach Travel in 2000.

Mandy grew up in Brisbane, Mike in Melbourne.  Prior to meeting, Mandy had already lived and worked in London and Africa, and Mike in London, Pacific Islands (Tonga) and New Zealand.

After working together in Brisbane, they moved to Sydney, then Singapore followed by Hong Kong, before eventually returning to Australia to raise their young family.

They have a deep understanding of the inner workings of airlines, cruise lines, hotels and tour operators.

The breadth and depth of their experience laid a good platform for Main Beach Travel, but a key attribute has been their ability to attract the best advisors in the industry to come and work with them.

Testament to this is that several of the team members have been with the agency for more than 20 years.

A Family Business

As owners, Mike and Mandy are hands-on and passionate about the relationships they have with clients, with colleagues and with the industry suppliers and partners.

Inducting new staff, the key message is “it’s not about selling”. Indeed, there are no sales targets.

It’s about establishing human connections, understanding desires, and fulfilling needs.  This elevates the relationship beyond what you might expect, from the normal transactional model to one of a true advisory service.
